You came across this article, because you’re probably wondering how to rank on the first page on Google.
This topic is complex, but I am going to educate you by explaining everything as simple as possible.
Here are 9 tips that will help you to rank on Google (first page):
- Understanding the concept of SEO
- List your goals
- See what’s working for your competitors.
- Find easy to rank keywords
- Implement something similar to what your competitors are using.
- Implement SEO
- Write blogs
- Track your rankings
- Update keywords and content on a monthly basis.
If you want to rank on Google then it does require time and effort. If it was an easy task to accomplish, then Google paid ads would not be a thing, would it? Well, that’s a debate for another day.
If you follow these steps that I am about to explain briefly I can guarantee your success in ranking on the first page of Google.
1. UNDERSTANDING THE CONSEPT OF SEO
There are plenty of helpful SEO tools out there. My personal favourite SEO tool is Yoast SEO. It offers a variety of ranking features which helps you to reach your maximum ranking potential.
You can read more about SEO here and Yoast SEO here.
2. LIST YOUR GOALS
It’s important to know what you are chasing. You need to have a goal that’s reasonable and possible to reach, even if you are planning to reach it in a year or two.
When you have listed them you should be able to determine which keywords you want to rank for.
Now that you have a basic mindset of what you want to accomplish, it’s time to move on to the next step.
3. SEE WHAT’S WORKING FOR YOUR COMPETITORS
We will have to identify our competitors before we can determine what’s working for them.
Go on your favourite search engine and type in keywords which you want to rank for. Keep the keywords short and sweet.
Once you have searched them, scroll past the websites displaying ‘AD’ next to them. We don’t have to complete against paid ads as you can’t out beat their ranking.
Write down the first three to five domain names that are listed under the keyword which you just searched.
Visit each of those websites and take note of the following while you browse through each and every page:
See which designs you like best and take note of them. It’s important to determine what the average client would like when they visit the website. So see things from a client’s perspective and not from a competitor’s perspective.
4. FIND EASY TO RANK KEYWORDS
Once you have searched, there will be a list of related keywords. Notice two categories. One of which is CPC (cost per click) and another category called paid difficulty.
Ideally you want to use the highest CPC keywords which has a paid difficulty under 50 or 60. Those are easy to rank keywords.
Export those keywords or write them down.
5. IMPLEMENT SIMILAR TO WHAT YOUR COMPETITORS ARE USING
It’s important that you do not copy and paste your competitor’s content as it is plagiarism. Be sure to put content in your own words and add a little twist in everything that you’re implementing.
That way, you’ll rank better on Google. But try to out beat your competitors.
If they have three paragraphs then you write four paragraphs. If they have five images then you add six images. Beat them at their own game.
Focus on writing content that related to the easy to rank keywords as well as they will come in handy when trying to rank.
This will improve your ranking much quicker.
6. IMPLEMENT SEO
Before you proceed to this step, it’s important that you fully understand SEO, and it’s features. Without proper SEO integrated there’s no way that you will rank on the first page on Google.
I would advise learning about my favourite plugin called Yoast SEO. You can learn more about Yoast SEO here.
After you have carefully studied the plugin and how SEO works it’s time to implement it on your website. Make sure all the keywords and readability dots are green.
If they are yellow it’s important to add some time to fix the errors. Never leave a dot on red or orange!
7. WRITE BLOGS
Writing blogs is one of the most helpful things when it comes to ranking. The more educational blogs you write and then back linking them to your website in one way or another will also boost your ranking.
If you haven’t written a blog don’t stress. You can learn more about blogs and how to create them here.
The entire purpose when writing blogs are to educate visitors and then leading them to your website. The more blogs, the better.
8. TRACK YOUR RANKINGS
With the help of Google Search Console you are able to determine how well your website is doing with regard to organic traffic. If your traffic isn’t increasing then you are doing something wrong.
9. UPDATE KEYWORDS AND CONTENT ON A MONTHLY BASIS
It’s important to keep your content and keywords updated as it can have an impact on your page visits and bounce rate. If you have a new keyword idea to rank for then be sure to put in the efforts to rank for it.
If you would like to leave this to the experts, you can contact a firm called Dylan Webs. They have been implementing SEO for many successful businesses around the globe. View their SEO packages here.
